Thanks to the active engagement of community leaders like you, along with leadership from government and community partners, our grantees, subject matter experts, and older people spanning a variety of areas, the Age-Friendly Minnesota Council is pleased to release the first Minnesota Multisector Blueprint for Aging.

RELEASE: MINNESOTA'S MULTISECTOR BLUEPRINT FOR AGING
We invite you to join the statewide effort now unfolding to move this work forward. Share your thoughts, sign-up to be a subject matter expert, or commit your organization or agency as a champion of a specific tactic. We'll need all the collective ingenuity, knowledge and life experience of Minnesotans from every sector and corner of the state to advance the core elements of this bold 10-year plan!

THROUGH THE BLUEPRINT
We invite you to review the general framework for Minnesota's Multisector Blueprint for Aging and then download the first version of this 10-year plan.
TIMELINE
- 2019 - In December, Governor Walz signed in-person EO 19-38, establishing an Age-Friendly Minnesota Council at the MN Leadership Council on Aging Summit.
- 2020 - In August, the Age-Friendly Minnesota Council completed the first phase of work by submitting a preliminary set of recommendations to the Legislature.
- 2021 - In the 2021 Special Session, the Legislature passed language continuing the Council. In December, community engagement work began through AGEnda.
- 2022 - In January, the first staff were hired and Minnesota became the 10th state to to join the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities.
- 2023 - In June, 90 community grants were awarded. In September, seven Regional Exchange sessions and a virtual statewide conference were convened to offer community input into a Multisector Blueprint for Aging.
- 2024 - In May, a draft Multisector Blueprint for Aging was released for public comment (through July 31, 2024) and in October and November Action Team convenings were held to prioritize tactics, followed by a December release.

GROUNDING VISION
These eight issue briefs were developed to inform the Multisector Blueprint for Aging and other age-friendly work across the state.
REGIONAL INPUT
As part of our statewide community engagement efforts, we held a series of seven free regional discussions on September 29, 2023.

We will also leverage the latest research and tools from the National Center to Reframe Aging, the trusted source for proven communication strategies and tools to effectively frame aging issues. To learn more, the Age-Friendly Minnesota Council is bringing national experts to Minnesota to help leaders from across the state engage in virtual and in-person trainings.
